Project Tiger Moth: "The Good Old Days" is a fan made Gauge 1 project produced by FlyingPringle and various other users with accurate replica models of Thomas and his friends, making it the first Thomas project using Gauge 1 models on such a scale in nearly 15 years, since the model-era of the show ended in 2008. Project Tiger Moth has been referred to by many fans as the "peak" of the fandom's creativeness in fan projects, and an example of just how far the general public had come with them.
The Good Old Days[]
Plot[]
Toby is upset that he didn't get to pull passengers for days, but one day, he brings a train of building supplies to Percy for the Main Line extension. Things go wrong when the trucks push Toby down the hill, through some bushes, and to an old manor station. Thomas and Percy both arrive, and the Fat Controller praises Toby. After the restoration of his old tramway, the passengers board Henrietta, and Toby is now happy that things are like the good old days again.

Criticism[]
Since its release back in 2022, Project Tiger Moth has received Universal Acclaim from the Thomas fandom but has also received criticism for not crediting Britt Allcroft in the opening credits, with the credits instead saying Adapted from the vision of David Mitton seemingly giving all the credit to him while undermining Britt's involvement in the show.
Trivia[]
- A reference to the first series episode, Toby and the Stout Gentlemen, is made, and stock footage from this episode is used.
- The episode was dedicated in memory of David Mitton.
- It premiered on FlyingPringle's YouTube channel on November 26th, 2022, at 9:00 PM CST, while simultaneously premiering as a special event at the Greenberg Train Show in Edison, New Jersey.
- The night it premiered, "Project Tiger Moth" began to trend a bit on Twitter.
- FlyingPringle stated that there is a possibility that more episodes may be produced in the future. However, this is not guaranteed, as he later said that "there is no next episode". This could just be a joke though. Future episodes were originally planned such as "Missing Henry (Cancelled Episode)" but were dropped early into production, likely due to the difficulties and expense of filming with models.
- The episode and models used were made in a way to resemble the aesthetic of the show during Season 5.
- Some of the original miniatures on the platform of Arlesdale End station and Sir Topham Hatt's car are shown nearing the end.
- Between Timestamp 4:44-4:46 Squidward Tentacles' house from Spongebob Squarepants can be seen in the background.
- On November 30, 2022, the video was marked as "made for kids" by YouTube, due to the misconception that Thomas is just for kids. This has caused an uproar on Twitter.
- One of original model series crews Conrad Ayling was credited for "Special Thanks to" in crediting roll.
- The gauge 1 tracks in this video were used in the United States with a different train model, while the scene with Toby's Line used the Tenmille style like from the original live-action show.
