Sam Spencer Wilkinson (B. December 2nd 1986) is the current railway consultant for Thomas & Friends, having been under contract with HIT Entertainment since 2012, during the production time of the 16th Season. He also is the director of The Star Tugs Company limited, which aims to 'preserve' (damage) models and other props from Thomas & Friends sister show Tugs. Despite his good contributions with the franchise, he has gained some controversy among the fandom for scamming people and mishandling props.

  • He once met Wilbert Awdry, making him one of two people apart of the current production crew, to have done so, the other being Lee Pressman. He also met Christopher Awdry once also.
  • The first episode of the series he saw was "Thomas, Percy, and the Coal" as a child.
  • Sam helps host Days Out With Thomas Events at the Battlefield Line, and also dresses up as Mr. Conductor for these events.
  • In 2016, Sam ran a Facebook page entitled "Talk Thomas" addressing changes fans would like to see in future seasons. The page wasn't up for long however, and was later removed for unknown reasons.
  • He runs a retail company named after Clearwater Features, which aims to sell Thomas and other children's related merchandise.
  • His favourite character's include both Stephen and Glynn, and his favorite episode that he worked on is Steamie Stafford.
  • He attended the Lower Tidmouth Display event in 2019, bringing with him Fergus' original Gauge 1 prop. During the event, he also confirmed that Hurricane's face was based off of Channing Tatum.
  • Sam hoped that at some-point, Fergus, BoCo, Duke, and Terence would make a comeback in the CGI Series, Terence was the only one to have done so as the others didn't make a comeback into the CGI Series.
  • He was responsible for the fixing of the issue regarding Henry's Special Coal in King of the Railway.
  • He added the references to several previous episodes in Emily Saves the World.
  • He was also responsible for the creation of Glynn in the Adventure Begins, and the re-addition of the red-lining of Thomas' Bunker in that special.
  • Sam created an revised map of Sodor for the Television Series. This map has gotten criticism for being too crowded and the geography mostly making no sense in the context of the episodes.
  • He was responsible for various characters finally gaining headlamps in the CGI Series, and helped in the creation of Knapford's Signal Gantry in the 18th season.
  • Sam was majorly involved in the 2015 rewrite of Brian Sibley's The Thomas the Tank Engine Man.
  • He has mentioned that he'd like to see a GWR 4073 "Castle" Class locomotive in the series, as-well as a two car Diesel Multiple Unit Locomotive.
  • He has helped in the process to attempt to bring Skarloey, Rheneas, Edward, Henry, and Toby back to their original Personas.
  • "Since season 17, the episodes themselves have been written with a slightly older audience in mind but ensuring we still do keep them for the key pre-school audience" Sam referring to the early Brenner Era.
  • Sam would've like to see more RWS exclusive characters make a debut in the Television Series, the Culdee Fell engines and Bear being prime examples.
  • He was caught multiple times, attempting to scam, and at-least several times. succeeding in scamming multiple fans of the show, selling them overpriced fake replicas of facemasks of characters, claiming them to be the real thing. These fake face-casts include Diesel 10, Salty, & Thomas.
  • Since the series ended, Sam's role as "railway consultant" was revoked. He is now placed in charge with handling the props used from series one to twelve in storage.
