The Missing Coach (Cancelled Episode)

The Missing Coach is a cancelled episode from Series 2. It was based on "Hullo Twins!" and "The Missing Coach" from The Railway Series book, The Twin Engines.

Differences to RWS[]

Throughout the episode, some lines were cut or changed slightly.
The big engine meeting was cut out. However, this was only written in the early script, but was changed during filming to just James in order to adjust the runtime. Also, Duck is absent from the big engine meeting in the early script.
The scene where Gordon and Henry teasing Donald and Douglas' whistles takes place in the Tidmouth Sheds at night, instead in the yard during the day.
- However, this scene was not featured in the early script.
Thomas' Special Coach has been changed to Branch Line Coach instead of Bogie coaches. This may have been to make the coach as long as Annie and Clarabel.
The scene where the passengers return to the station after hearing Sir Topham Hatt's apology was changed to Thomas going to get the Special Coach.
The early script has an idea to add an extra line of narration to complete as the one episode.

Trivia[]

It is theorised that the episode was replaced with either Thomas, Percy and the Coal, the Runaway, Better Late Than Never or Thomas and Trevor.
Some people theorised that this was gonna be the first episode of Series 2. This however wouldn’t have made sense as that would imply it would have aired before Duck Takes Charge.
The early script of the episode was found in Christmas 2022.
